Art Pylkkänen is a bespoke art consultancy business advising collectors and institutions wishing to acquire major works of art, both privately and from important auctions across the world.  With our extensive knowledge and experience at the top of the art market, we provide a discreet service which is completely tailored to the tastes of our collectors, giving transparent, dependable advice on major acquisitions and sales.

Jussi Pylkkänen, Partner

Prior to co-founding Art Pylkkänen in 2024, Jussi spent 37 years as a 20th century art specialist and auctioneer at Christie’s, and served as Global President of the firm from 2014 until 2023.  Jussi has unparalleled knowledge of the masterpiece market and continues to advise major collectors across the world.  He is an internationally renowned specialist with particular expertise in the Impressionist, Modern and Post-War fields.

Jussi is known globally as one of the world’s leading auctioneers and his record is unrivalled.   His milestones over the last decade include the first painting sold for a hammer price above $100 million (Francis Bacon’s Three Studies of Lucian Freud, sold in 2013), the most expensive painting ever sold (Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi, in 2017), the most expensive work of art by a living artist (Jeff Koons’ Rabbit, in 2019) and the most expensive painting by a twentieth century artist which he sold in New York in 2022 (Andy Warhol’s Shot Sage Blue Marilyn).

Guy Agazarian, Partner

Guy spent 17 years at Christie’s, 10 years of which as Director of the Global President’s Office, before co-founding Art Pylkkänen with Jussi in 2024.  Guy has extensive experience working with some of the most active collectors in the masterpiece market at the highest levels and price points, managing sale oversight and process, research, logistics, art movement and due diligence and AML requirements.  Guy’s exceptional range of contacts throughout the art world allows Art Pylkkänen to offer a completely dependable service for buyers and sellers operating across the globe. 

Guy and Jussi have worked together as a team since 2013.

Chester Pylkkänen, Associate

Chester studied English Language and Literature at Magdalen College, Oxford. Prior to Art Pylkkänen, Chester worked in political strategy and communications. During his time at university, he kept a keen eye on the art market and worked as an art handler during placements in 2019 and 2020. Chester joined Art Pylkkänen in January 2024, and manages information, digitisation and research. Chester also launched and oversees Project Bronze, Art Pylkkänen's sculpture programme, casting bronze sculptures by leading contemporary artists in partnership with Pangolin Editions.
